Technology is increasingly critical as the company looks to scale through improved operational effectiveness, workflow automation and data-driven decision making.
Scope of Position
Our client is seeking a hands-on, strategic Head of IT to lead and evolve its technology function. Reporting to VP Finance this role will own both day-to-day IT operations and longer-term technology strategy.
The successful candidate will inherit a lean IT team with an opportunity to build a clear roadmap, improve execution, and elevate IT into a true business partner.
This role requires a leader who can operate tactically while thinking strategically, influence stakeholders across the business, and introduce structure, prioritization, and accountability into IT delivery.
Functional Tasks
IT Leadership & Strategy:
• Develop and execute a clear IT roadmap aligned to business priorities
• Shift the organization from reactive support to a proactive enablement
• Act as a trusted advisor to leadership, identifying opportunities to drive efficiency and growth through technology
• Establish governance, prioritization, and delivery discipline across IT
Operational Excellence
• Oversee day-to-day IT operations including end-user support and troubleshooting, systems availability and performance, licensing, security, and infrastructure management
• Balance internal capabilities with outsourcing and vendor management
Business Partnership & Stakeholder Engagement:
• Build strong relationships across all business functions including sales, marketing, operations, finance.
• Understand business needs and translate them into practical technology solution.
• Improve communication, expectation-setting, and delivery consistency
• Bring a customer-centric mindset to IT
Data & Analytics Enablement:
• Advance the company’s data maturity and reporting capabilities
• Enhance the use of Power BI based reporting environments
• Improve data accessibility, accuracy, and speed of insights
• Streamline KPI reporting cycles and enable faster decision-making
Systems & Applications:
• Oversee core systems including ERP (Prophet 21/P21), reporting tools, and integrated applications
• Partner with third-party developers and vendors to improve integration and performance
• Ensure systems support scalability and operational efficiency
• Experience with identifying and implementing critical systems of record e.g. ERP; CRM; WMS, etc.
Infrastructure & Cloud Environment:
• Manage a primarily Microsoft / Azure-based environment
• Support ongoing evolution of cloud and infrastructure strategies
• Partner with ERP providers and external consultants on system enhancements
Cybersecurity & Risk Management:
• Maintain and enhance a strong cybersecurity posture
• Ensure ongoing compliance, monitoring, and risk mitigation
• Build awareness and best practices across the organization
Team Development & Capability Building:
• Mentor, coach, and elevate the existing IT team
• Identify skill gaps and build a scalable IT function
• Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement

Preferred Experience / Education
• 15+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, with a strong track record of developing and executing enterprise IT strategies, roadmaps, and end-to-end technology initiatives.
• Experience operating within small to mid-sized, owner-operated, entrepreneurial, and growth stage organizations.
• Background in distribution, wholesale, supply chain, or broader B2B operating environments preferred.
• Strong expertise across ERP platforms (ideally Prophet 21 or similar), cloud infrastructure within the Microsoft/Azure ecosystem, Salesforce, and data & analytics environments including Power BI and SQL.
• Demonstrated success improving systems integration, data visibility, reporting capabilities, and overall technology maturity.
• Proven ability to balance strategic leadership with hands on execution in lean environments.
• Experience driving operational efficiency, prioritization, communication, and delivery discipline with a strong sense of ownership.
• University degree in Information Technology or a related field required; master’s degree, Project Management certifications considered assets.
