Scope of Position
As part of a major growth initiative, our client is seeking and individual to provide strategic direction and leadership for the growth of their Western Canada region.
This role is focused on overall business growth through the development and cultivation of external facing new business opportunities. In addition, the role will be responsible for team leadership and development, thought leadership and research, client engagement, technical oversight of deliverables and project financial performance. The role will be expected to collaborate with other service areas within our client in pursuing cross-selling opportunities.

Functional Tasks
- Act as the overall regional leader for our client’s Hydropower business and be responsible for the growth of the practice in the market and financially;
- Develop and achieve business development targets through client relationships and project pursuits;
- Grow the team to match increasing workload and collaborate globally with the whole of the Energy team;
- Lead the bid development processes by managing technical proposals and providing written technical inputs as necessary;
- Provide the strategic planning of short and long-term business direction;
- Liaise, network and encourage collaboration across the company’s disciplines and businesses that contribute to the overall Hydropower offer;
- Act proactively in working with leaders in the firm’s other businesses to develop hydropower opportunities of mutual interest
- Work closely with other managers on all ongoing projects and staffing;
- Provide quality assurance of ongoing projects, reports, bid submissions and products.
- Direct, review and approve budgets and plans which will deliver the organization’s strategic goals.
- Ensure the commercial viability of the business at all times, acting in compliance with agreed corporate profitability objectives.
- Engender a style of management that encourages an ethos of excellence and a mindset of continuous improvement and collaboration.
- Remain abreast of the industry, competitors and trends with a view to ensuring that the firm’s services best align to market needs.
- Serve as an ambassador for the group representing it at appropriate conferences, speaking engagements, and other external industry related events.

Preferred Experience / Education
The following indicates specific industry, academic and functional experience and qualifications that are important to the successful achievement of the identified responsibilities and performance deliverables:
- Proven experience as an accomplished executive in a similar leadership role.
- Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) in electrical engineering or related fields.
- 10-15 years of experience in hydropower or related sectors with a strong economic element.
- Previous experience in leading and growing a team and function for commercial performance in a consultancy environment.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and manage project teams in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Demonstrable history of successful business development and achievement of targets.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively; build relationships and influence effectively, with colleagues, clients, and stakeholders.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills in complex and changing environments.
