Our client is a leading North American aluminum products company serving OEMs across a range of industries including construction, distribution and transportation. Widely recognized for the robustness of its solutions and superior customer service, our client is headquartered in the Greater Toronto Area and has facilities across North America. The company is privately owned and operated.

Scope of Position

Our client seeks a hands-on, operationally engaged Vice President, Finance to lead the finance and accounting functions of a multi-site aluminum extrusion manufacturing enterprise, as well as provide oversight to the IT department.

The successful candidate will provide strong technical skills with good business sense, providing both strategic and day-to-day financial leadership across a fast-paced industrial environment.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the role will oversee all aspects of financial management including building a competent team capable of supporting the organization’s continued success. The successful individual will bring a deep understanding of manufacturing operations along with the ability to translate financial data into insightful actions.

This role requires a leader who is equally comfortable working with ownership and the executive team as with the plant managers and controllers. The ideal candidate will thrive in a results-oriented environment and be able to provide both financial discipline and strategic foresight. They will play a key role in shaping the organization’s long-term direction.

Functional Tasks

  • Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team, ensuring collaboration and accountability.
  • Oversee preparation of monthly and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the manufacturing process, identifying strength, weaknesses and areas for improvement.
  • Design and refine dashboards and KPIs to link financial performance with operations.
  • Oversee IT function along with ERP system (NetSuite) ensuring it supports business growth.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors, bankers, insurers, and key external partners as appropriate.
  • Oversee risk management, treasury, and capital structure.
  • Partner with the CEO and President on strategic planning and long-term financial stewardship.
  • Champion operational excellence and continuous improvement across the organization.

Preferred Experience / Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Commerce, or Business Administration, combined with a CPA or equivalent professional designation.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive, hands-on financial leadership experience, with increasing responsibility for strategic planning, financial analysis, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Experience working within a multi-generational, owner-operated enterprise is preferred, bringing an analytical, entrepreneurial mindset and unwavering attention to detail.
  • Demonstrates a strong curiosity for business fundamentals and a deep understanding of what drives operational and financial performance.
  • Proven ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and perform effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Key contributor to the long-term success and stability of private enterprise, through disciplined financial management, process improvement, and effective implementation of systems and controls.
  • Maintains the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct.
