Scope of Position
Our client is seeking a leader Water management and Treatment Engineer to lead and support industrial water projects within the Industrial Water group with a focus on Oil/Gas and Petrochemicals. This role involves technical leadership, project management, team development, and client engagement, with a focus on advanced water treatment systems delivering complex industrial water solutions for oil and gas customers.
The firm is looking for a professional who combines strong design expertise with practical, problem-solving, and who can drive projects from concept through detailed design and delivery.
This role is focused on growing the overall practice through the development of external facing new business opportunities, as well as in collaboration/cross-selling with other oil and gas/petrochemical related service areas within our client. The successful candidate will be expected to proactively grow market share (i.e., sell) in the oil and gas and petrochemical water services area.

Functional Tasks
- Promote our client’s Industrial Water services across the oil and gas and petrochemical Sectors.
- Provide technical leadership and oversight for planning, consulting, design, and delivery.
- Support and lead business development activities, including proposals, client engagement, and strategic positioning in the U.S./Canada markets.
- Mentor and develop junior and intermediate engineers, fostering a high-performance team culture.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (metals, oil/gas, power, delivery group, etc).
- Lead and contribute to engineering studies, condition assessments, alternatives analysis, and design reports.
- Ensure quality assurance and technical excellence across all project phases.
- Interface with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to support successful project delivery.
- Explore and implement innovative water management solutions.
- Liaising with Global peers across the business as required.
- Remain abreast of the industry, competitors and trends with a view to ensuring that the firm’s services best align to market needs.
- Serve as an ambassador for the group representing it at appropriate conferences, speaking engagements, and other external industry related events.

Preferred Experience / Education
The following indicates specific industry, academic and functional experience and qualifications that are important to the successful achievement of the identified responsibilities and performance deliverables:
- Ideally 20+ years of experience in Industrial Water within Oil & Gas.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in US or Canada;
- Extensive experience in oil sands water management and treatment, including handling complex water streams such as produced water, SAGD water, tailings water, and process affected water.
- Proven track record addressing water management and treatment challenges across the upstream, downstream, and petrochemical sectors, with the ability to integrate solutions across exploration/production, refining, and chemical processing operations.
- Strong technical background in advanced water treatment technologies relevant to oil and gas applications, such as thermal treatment, membrane systems, biological treatment, desalination, and water reuse/recycling systems.
- Demonstrated ability to develop holistic water strategies that balance operational needs, regulatory compliance, ESG expectations, and long term sustainability goals.
- Experience designing, evaluating, and optimizing water treatment systems for high TDS brines, oily wastewater, emulsions, and complex industrial effluents.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with process engineering, environmental, operations, and project delivery groups to implement integrated water solutions.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, permitting requirements, and industry best practices governing water use, discharge, and stewardship in oil and gas operations.
- Strong client facing and stakeholder management skills, with a history of shaping scopes, delivering high quality technical work, and supporting major capital projects.
- Recognized within the Industrial Water industry for technical leadership.
- Skilled in developing water treatment models using advanced techniques.
- Excellent communication skills—verbal, written, and presentation.
