Scope of Position
Our client seeks a highly skilled and operationally oriented Vice President, Operational Finance to join its leadership team. This role is pivotal in driving the company’s financial performance and ensuring the efficient and effective management of our client’s financial operations. Reporting to and working closely with the CFO, the VP Operational Finance will oversee a team of highly motivated senior finance professionals, playing a critical role in improving operational relationships and performance through analytics, processes and influence.
Functional Tasks
Operational Finance Management:
•Manage day-to-day financial operations, including project-based cash flow management, accounts payable/receivable, and operational discipline.
•Ensure accurate and timely financial data to support operational decision-making.
Data-Driven Decision Making:
•Develop and implement robust project analytics and reporting to support strategic and operational decisions.
•Utilize financial metrics and performance indicators to identify trends, insights, and areas for improvement.
Stakeholder Management:
•Collaborate closely with business leaders to understand the financial needs and challenges of the business.
•Provide data-driven insights and financial expertise to support business strategies and enhance decision-making processes.
Risk Management:
•Working closely with insurance and surety bond brokers and companies, oversee project insurance requirements, including surety and bonding requirements.
Team Leadership and Development:
•Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of senior finance professionals.
•Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the finance team.
Metrics and Performance Monitoring:
•Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational benchmarks to monitor the company’s performance.
•Regularly review and analyze operational data to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and operational goals.

Preferred Experience / Education
•Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field; MBA, or CPA, or CFA designation preferred.
•15+ years of experience in finance, with a focus on operational finance. Experience in the construction or infrastructure industry a bonus.
•Proven track record of success in leveraging data and analytics to drive business decisions.
•Ability to understand and communicate what drives business success.
•A team player that brings a proactive ‘owns it, solves it’ mindset with an ability to navigate complex financial scenarios.
•An individual who leads by example from the front and is focused on achieving ambitious goals.
•Demonstrated ability to excel in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced, dynamic and growth-oriented business.
•Experience working in an M&A fueled company is a definite asset.
•Strong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting standards, and taxation.
•Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
•Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
