Having attained these measures of success and looking to capitalize on their solid foundation, the founders have decided to bring new leadership into the organization. We are seeking to recruit a COO who in partnership with the founders can craft a strategy and accelerate growth of the business and along the way, build a healthy, sustainable organizational culture. The COO will have full P&L responsibility (total revenue ~$22M).

The COO will be a mission-focused, seasoned, strategic, and process-minded leader with experience scaling an organization, leading an executive management team, and developing a performance culture among a group of diverse, talented individuals. The COO is a leader who has the skills, sensitivity, and personal confidence to tap into the power that each team member brings to this mission. He/she will provide leadership to the existing group and ensure the confidence of all stakeholders by acting with integrity and behaving ethically, earning the respect of staff and credibility with senior management. In addition, the ideal candidate should be an accomplished business leader who can tap his/her strong sales/business development background and network of senior contacts to drive the growth of the company.

Functional Tasks
  • Deliver on a strategy that will enable the company to achieve accelerated levels of growth and profitability.
  • Lead and generate business by using uncommon thinking to clearly position the company's services with its vendor partners and introduce best in class solutions and services to the market.
  • Lead the integration of professional services work to our enterprise customers with a view to enhance customer retention and to generate a greater share of the wallet within the current customer base.
  • Conduct opportunity assessments, pipeline management to clarify profitability triggers and performance goals across the Service operations resulting in improved financial results.
  • Bring deep existing relationships that can be leveraged to an advantage.
  • Assess the viability of new business opportunities and to scope out, price and structure new projects and programs.
  • Ensure that sales teams introduce services into the market, providing customers with the best business solution for their needs.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring and oversight to the service delivery and sales teams, communicating strategy, deliverables and goals.
  • Develop and communicate the vision for the Company.
  • Create infrastructure and design processes that encourage and support product innovation, customer service, knowledge sharing and best practice development.
  • Be a hands-on leader who can mentor and develop key personnel.
  • Galvanize a disparate and diverse group of contributors around common causes and to create shared passion for the organization, its values and its offerings.
  • Design the approach for core service offerings and provide process oversight particularly for major clients and troubled accounts.

Key Performance Deliverables
In light of the identified responsibilities, the following are specific deliverables that the position is designed to achieve.
  • The COO will be tasked with developing plans that address all areas of the company's operations, driving both top and bottom line growth, effectively doubling the company's size in the next 3 - 5 years.

Preferred Experience / Education
The following indicates specific industry, academic and functional experience/qualifications that are important to the successful achievement of the identified responsibilities and performance deliverables.
  • Experience leading significant change initiatives - particularly moving successful but stalled companies to new levels of growth.
  • Has grown enterprises organically and by acquisition ($30MM -> $100MM and beyond).
  • Process/continuous improvement expertise across all areas of the organization.
  • Multi-functional expertise - especially in sales and market development but also contract negotiations, finance and project management.
  • Successful leading hardware sales and services teams focused on enterprise solutions.
  • Proven track record of success in expanding into new verticals and markets.
