Employing approximately 365 people, with sales of approx $100M (USD), our client has 4 office locations throughout the USA and Canada. The Canadian Interconnect Systems group is a growing market segment providing interconnect solutions to the aerospace/defense, industrial, transport and nuclear customer markets. Providing customized electrical interconnect solutions, our client is a leader in their field and is seeking the services of a senior professional sales and marketing champion to lead their business forward.
Job Scope
To this effort, our client is seeking a Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Reporting to the US based CEO, and Canadian GMgr, the Vice President S&M is responsible for all associated sales and marketing activities of the division. This includes, implementing sales and marketing campaigns, supporting new product development programs, and participating in the development and implementation of the company’s strategic business plans. The incumbent will be based in the Oakville location, Canada, where the majority of the sales team is located. However, the territory of this role is global with initial focus on the US markets where some of the most lucrative opportunities for new business exist.

Supervisory Responsibilities
The VP of Sales and Marketing motivates and manages the sales staff including, recruitment hire and selection, training and development in order to achieve the company goals and objectives. These duties include the following specific responsibilities:
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Engineering and/or MBA preferred.
A minimum of ten years related sales and marketing experience with progressive managerial responsibilities. Demonstrated leadership of a similar or larger sized organization is required, with proven ability to lead a dynamic sales team and capture profitable business within an industrial market segment.
Skills and Abilities
The VP of Sales and Marketing will have demonstrated a past track record of sales success through advanced sales techniques. He/she will also demonstrate the leadership skills, knowledge and business strategies of a professional sales executive. The incumbent must also possess the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with senior management, executives and external customers.
The VP of Sales and Marketing should demonstrated ability to anticipate problems and to quickly resolve issues. The incumbent must also possess a commitment to excellence, set high standards and follow ethical practices. The ability to lead his/her sales team and achieve the desired margin results through others. The ability to plan ahead over a multiple year time horizon, managing multiple priorities (both strategic and tactical) is a must.
The VP Sales and Marketing must have a strong customer orientation, excellent interpersonal skills and the perseverance to achieve a successful, high performance sales team.

- Lead and manage the sales team of the company.
- Develop and implement strategic sales and marketing plans in conjunction with the CEO.
- Develop and manage sales and marketing operating budgets in line with the company’s budget.
- Develop sales forecasts for order backlog and annual deliveries to support corporate financial objectives
- Ensures that the sales order backlog achieves satisfactory profit/loss ratios and market share, in relation to preset standards and industry and economic trends.
- Ensures effective communications with the company’s customers is provided by all sales team members. Providing clear feedback and communications to corporate of customer needs, issues and requirements.
- Oversees and evaluates competitive market research adjusting marketing strategy to meet changing markets and conditions experienced by the company.
- Prepare sales reports showing sales volumes, potential sales, and areas for potential market expansion.
- Review, analyze and improve the performance of the sales team to ensure effectiveness and marketshare in territories and/or with customer accounts.

- Directs recruitment and hiring of sales staff, sales training, to assure cohesive sales and marketing organization.
- Develops sales metrics and regular performance reviews to improve the sales team output.
- Coordinates liaison between sales department and other departments within the company.
- Directs sales forecasting activities and sets performance goals for each member of the sales team.
- Analyzes and controls expenditures of the sales organization to conform to budgetary requirements. Working together with executive team to put in place all appropriate sales and marketing plans and policies.
Education and Experience
